Selamat memperingati Jumat Agung. Mari kita kembali mengenang kesengsaraan dan kematian-Nya di kayu salib.....

*Penderaan demi penderaan ditimpakan kepada-Nya, Sang Anak Manusia. Bukan hanya penderaan fisik, melainkan juga penderaan batin yang begitu menyayat, mengiris, memilukan.....
Cawan pahit pun diminum-Nya dengan tabah. Lecutan demi lecutan, cambukan demi cambukan diterima-Nya dengan berserah.
Berjalan selangkah demi selangkah Ia lakoni demi menggenapkan karya keselamatan Allah Bapa-Nya. Tiga kali ia jatuh dan sebanyak itu pula ia bangkit. Semua dilakukan-Nya supaya genaplah yang tertulis dalam Kitab Suci, "Kamu tahu, bahwa dua hari lagi akan dirayakan Paskah, maka Anak Manusia akan diserahkan untuk disalibkan." *

Ketika diatas kayu salib, ada 7 perkataan yang diucapkan Tuhan Yesus sebagaimana tertulis dalam keempat Kitab Injil yaitu :

1. Lukas 23:34 “Ya Bapa, ampunilah mereka, karena mereka tidak tahu apa yang mereka lakukan.”
2. Lukas 23:43 “Sesungguhnya, hari ini juga kamu akan bersama Aku di dalam Firdaus.”
3. Yohanes 19:26-27 “Ibu, inilah anakmu!”
4. Matius 27:46 & Markus 15:34 “Allah-Ku, Allah-Ku, mengapa Engkau meninggalkan Aku?”
5. Yohanes 19:28 “Aku haus!”
6. Yohanes 19:30 “Sudah selesai.”
7. Lukas 23:46 “Ya Bapa, ke dalam tangan-Mu Kuserahkan nyawa-Ku.”

Seorang komposer asal Prancis, Theodore Dubois, membuat aransemen lagu dari ketujuh perkataan Tuhan Yesus ini yang menjadi salah satu karya Dubois yang paling terkenal yaitu the oratorio Les sept paroles du Christ ("The Seven Last Words of Christ") pada tahun 1867, kemudian diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Inggris oleh Theodore Barker, seorang ahli musik asal Amerika, dan sampai sekarang telah menjadi pertunjukan orkestra musik yang sering dibawakan pada acara peringatan Jumat Agung dibanyak gereja di berbagai belahan dunia.

Theodore Dubois lahir di Prancis pada tahun 1837. Ia menghabiskan sebagian besar hidupnya di Paris, dimana Paris Conservatory berada, tempat ia belajar musik. Meskipun ia tidak diakui sebagai salah satu musisi hebat pada masanya, namun ia sangat dihormati oleh rekan-rekannya yang lebih terkenal, yaitu Franz Liszt (yang memberinya dorongan bermusik), Cesar Franck, dan Camille Saint-Saens.

Dubois adalah organis dan choirmaster di Gereja St. Clotilde di Paris (di mana Cesar Franck juga melayani disana pada waktu yang sama) ketika ia menulis "Seven Last Words of Christ." Karya ini pertama kali dilakukan untuk layanan Jumat Agung di Gereja St. Clotilde. Meskipun Dubois menyusun beberapa karya musik rohani lain (orkestra, paduan suara dan organ), namun sangat sedikit dari karya tersebut yang masih dimainkan pada saat ini. Mungkin alasannya karena karya composition Dubois tersusun dalam gaya idiomatis pada zamannya - suatu gaya yang beberapa orang anggap terlalu romantis atau basi menurut standar masa kini. Dalam pengertian ini, "Seven Last Words of Christ" adalah karya komposisi Dubois yang paling pas, walaupun gayanya mewakili waktu dan tempat lain yaitu, usia emas pada akhir 1800-an dan awal 1900-an. Namun, hingga kini komposisi ini terdengar indah dan haru sehingga kita seperti menjadi penjelajah waktu, menikmati musik ini sambil membayangkan ke masa lalu bagaimana Tuhan Yesus ketika mengucapkan ketujuh kata itu. Kita seperti dibawa untuk menghayati suasana pengucapan ketujuh perkataan Tuhan Yesus melalui lirik dan alunan musiknya. Lagu beserta liriknya,

Were the whole realm of nature Mine. That were a present far too small. Love so amazing so divine. Demands My soul, My life, My all. Amen.

Dan pada intinya.. Tuhan Yesus Kristus telah mati untuk keselamatan dunia untuk membebaskan kita dari belenggu dosa dan hukum maut. Kiranya peringatan Jumat Agung senantiasa menjadi sahabat bagi kita dalam menjalani kehidupan ini hingga akhir dan hidup bersama dengan-Nya dalam kemuliaan. Amin.
